Funding Opportunities

  • Graduate Opportunity Fellowships are offered to students of color and/or students who have overcome long-term educational and/or economic barriers. The School of Social Work seeks funding every year to increase the number of these fellowships.
    Note: This award requires application review and nomination by the School. To be considered, all Admissions application materials, including submitted on-line letters of recommendation, must be received by January 12, 2007. Recipients will be notified by mail once the Graduate School approves admission.

  • Federal Public Child Welfare Training Grants are offered by the School of Social Work. Upon graduation, trainees agree to accept employment in public child welfare in the state of Wisconsin for a period equal to the amount of time they received funding.
  • Arthur Miles Scholarship ia awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to social policy.
  • Debra Beebe Scholarship is awarded to outstanding M.S.W. students who have demonstrated a commitment to work in the mental health field.
  • Helen I. Clark Award is offered to an outstanding M.S.W. student whose experience, accomplishments and aspirations exemplify the spirit of Jane Addams and the settlement house tradition.
  • Katherine Prichard Benz Award is offered for students working their way through school.
  • Lois Palmer Shimpa Memorial Scholarship is offered to a first-year graduate student who demonstrates significant community involvement prior to coming to school.
  • Richard Schwert Scholarship is given to outstanding students preparing for careers in corrections and criminal justice.
