Part-Time Program Application Instructions and Forms

This information outlines the application processes used for the Part-Time MSW Program at either Madison or Eau Claire.

 

DUAL APPLICATION PROCESS

Students seeking admission to the master's program will need to:

  • STEP ONE: Meet the admission requirements of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School and those of the School of Social Work.
  • STEP TWO: Complete all application materials for both.

FALL 2010 APPLICATION DEADLINES

Deadline for Early Decision Cycle

  • October 30

The Early Decison Admissions Option is recommended for applicants who hold an undergraduate degree at the time of application.  Choosing this option means that all admissions application materials are complete (e.g., forms, letters of recommendation, transcripts, essay) and must be submitted by October 30.  Those who meet this deadline will be notified of an admissions decision by December 18.

Those who are not admitted for Early Decision will be considered in the Regular Admissions Cycle and will be notified of a final admissions decision in early April. Applicants who are still working toward their undergraduate degree or others who can't meet the October 30 deadline should apply in the regular admissions cycle.

Deadline for Regular Decision Cycle

  •  Initial Application Deadline: January 15, 2010

All admissions application materials are complete (e.g., forms, letters of recommendation, transcripts, essay) and must be submitted by January 15.
  • After Initial Deadline: Applications will continue to be accepted for the Part-Time Program on a rolling admissions basis until the class is filled.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Step One
The UW-Madison Graduate School sets the minimum admission requirements for all prospective graduate students. In addition to these requirements, the School of Social Work prerequisites must be met to qualify for acceptance into the master's program. Please review these requirements before filling out the admission applications.

Step Two

  1. Carefully read the Application Instructions (PDF). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the School of Social Work Part-Time MSW Admissions Office at 608-263-3576 or email Deb O'Connell at dhoconne@wisc.edu.

    (To complete the School of Social Work's Masters Application, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 or higher. Click here for a free download.)

  2. After reading the application instructions, complete the School of Social Work Master's Application (PDF) online. After you complete the application, make sure to save a copy for your records.

  3. Apply online to the UW-Madison Graduate School.

We cannot consider your application until all materials are received and the application fee has been paid to the Graduate School.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

International students are not eligible to participate in the part-time program.  The university requires international students to be full-time students.
