Social Work and Public Affairs Professor Maria Cancian was a panelist on the 9/20/2009 MSNBC special, "All Our Children", filmed in front of a live audience at Howard University in Washington, DC.  The show, featuring Bill Cosby and moderated by political analyst Michelle Bernard, discussed poverty in America and other issues facing the poor in the United States.  It will be re-broadcast on 9/27/2009 from 11-1 Central Time.

Maria's new book, Changing Poverty, Changing Policies, Russell Sage Foundation, co-edited with Sheldon Danziger, has just been published.  The book "documents how economic, social, demographic, and public policy changes since the early 1970's have altered who is poor and where antipoverty initiatives have kept pace or fallen behind."
