School Counselor/Group Facilitator

Catholic Charities of Madison is seeking a part-time (up to 20 hours/week), masters-level
School Counselor/Group Facilitator.

This role involves working across two different school-based mental health programs, our Parish School Counseling program and our FACE-Kids program. In the School Counselor role (one day a week for 8 hours) the counselor provides classroom guidance lessons to all grades at an area Catholic school, one-on-one support for students, and consultation for teachers and parents. In the Group Facilitator role (approximately 13 hours a week) the facilitator develops curriculum for, and leads, short-term social-emotional wellness student groups in various school settings alongside student services co-facilitators. Typical groups include emotional regulation, coping with stress, coping with anxiety, and family change. The ideal candidate would also become trained in and provide a small number of cognitive behavioral trauma intervention groups for students, using a ready-made, evidence-based curriculum.

This up to 20 hour per week dynamic position runs through the school year only, and offers supportive supervision, a flexible schedule, professional development opportunities, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Dane County youth.

Applicants must have a completed master’s degree (in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related field), have direct clinical experience working with youth, and experience leading mental health or guidance groups. A clinical license and experience working in the school setting are preferred but not required.
