Title: Social Worker (Emergency Services) – 0.0 FTE, Weekend Night Shift

Schedule: On call, Saturday and Sunday night shift, hours vary based on need.

Location: Meriter Hospital

The social worker in the Emergency (ES) Services Department provides a psychosocial assessment including a formal suicide risk assessment (SRA) to children, adolescents and adults with mental health issues seeking care.  The social worker in ES coordinates with providers, community agencies and in collaboration with a psychiatrist determines appropriate disposition, including admission to the hospital in some cases.  The Certified Advance Practice Social Worker (CAPSW) works under the direction of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Requirements Include:

  • Master of Science Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work
  • Previous experience in a hospital or mental health setting
  • Credentialed in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Advance Practice Social Worker (CAPSW).
  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving, conflict resolution and effective communication
  • Crisis intervention management skills
  • Ability to communicate with children, adolescents and adults

Title: Social Worker – LCSW; Adult Psychiatry; 0.7FTE; Day Shift

Schedule: Weekdays, 8a-4:30p.

Location: Meriter Hospital

 

The Psychiatric Clinical Social Worker works with a caseload of patients individually throughout hospitalization.  An extensive initial assessment particularly related to family function and support, legal status, and need for psycho-education as well as aftercare resources  is conducted within 48 hours of admission.  The results of the assessment provide focus for the social worker during the patient’s hospitalization.  The psychiatric social worker ensures that aftercare resources are in place by discharge, and assists patients/families in accessing them.   Additionally, the psychiatric social worker provides care for patients in groups as a therapy group facilitator.

Requirements:

  • Master of Science Degree in Social Work with a clinical concentration from an accredited school of social work
  • Two years of clinical social work experience
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the WI Department of Professional Services and Safety, which ensures a clinical social work concentration, supervised clinical field training, and completion of a supervised practice regimen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to lead therapeutic groups
  • Experience and skill in working as part of an interdisciplinary team

Preferred:

  • Two years of direct experience working with psychiatric patients on an inpatient or outpatient basis
  • Previous experience facilitating experiential and didactic patient groups
  • Excellent working knowledge of community mental health resources
  • Solid understanding of Wisconsin Mental Health Law, Guardianship, Advanced Medical Directives, and Power of Attorney issues
  • Schedule flexibility to assist with coverage over FTE based on census and peer coverage needs

Schedule: Primarily weekdays, day shift. Weekend rotation and occasional evening hours required.

Location: Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (8001 Raymond Rd)
