Our Shelter Staff exhibit leadership, dedication, initiative, and compassion. As a Shelter Staff you are one of the first interactions with the guests. It is important to make them feel welcome. You will assist individuals and families to become acquainted with the shelter and provide them with an overview of the safety procedures and behavior expectations. We encourage the Shelter Staff to continuously look for ways to improve the shelter and provides feedback to Shelter Services Director. During this difficult time in our guests lives we provide a safe and supportive environment. We expect all of our staff to uphold and promote the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army as well as The Salvation Army Code of Ethics and Philosophy of Care. The Shelter Staff team is responsible for the supervision and safety of guests, which include, the enforcement of the rules, policy, procedures. It is essential for the Shelter Staff to not only maintaining confidentiality of all guests, but also maintaining accurate records, files, statistics and reports to ensure the highest level of service.
Our team conducts regular group meetings as well as one on one time with the Shelter Services Director. During this time, it is important to collaborate, express areas of concern, recognition, implement efficiency etc. You will also have time where you are expected to take initiative and use independent judgment within established procedural guidelines. We also offer our Shelter Staff training opportunities that foster growth and development for continued success. As you become more experienced in this position, we will ask that you assist in the training of new shelter staff as well.
