This position will be .8 in the ambulatory setting working with the pediatric and obstetrics departments.
Position description
Under the supervision of a social worker who meets state required standards, provides counseling, and other services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The social worker will provide assessments, comply with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities, and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work.

There will be crossover coverage into Obstetrics.

Qualifications
An MSW degree is required from an accredited Masters of Social Work Program.
Additional qualifications
Must have knowledge in adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease. Strong human relation skills are needed to interact with patients, patient’s family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources. Must also have psycho-social assessment skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.

Understands developmental milestones of infant/child and common behaviors during and after hospitalization of the infant/child.
Demonstrates knowledge of neonatal/pediatric assessment for high-risk psychosocial issues.
Demonstrates knowledge of resources to assist pregnant mothers with current AODA or homelessness issues.

Recognizes abuse/neglect potential.
Understands the adoption process.
Demonstrates understanding of the adoption process.

License or certification
Wisconsin: Certification at the Certified Advanced Practice (CAPSW) or Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW) level by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services is required. CAPSW personnel who have achieved two years of supervised social work practice, by a supervisor who has met board requirements, may apply for certification as a CISW. CAPSW or CISW personnel, following 3,000 hours of clinical social work practice including at least 1,000 hours of face to face contact supervised by a person meeting board requirements, may apply for licensure at the LCSW level. Valid driver’s license required for specific areas.
