Child Protective Services Initial Assessment Worker

The Taylor County Human Services Department has a full-time opening for a Child Protective Services Initial Assessment Worker. The CPS Initial Assessment Worker duties include providing child protective services assessments on referrals alleging the physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect of children, and/or threat of abuse or neglect, determining whether maltreatment has occurred and establishing ongoing safety planning and assessing the likelihood for future child maltreatment, investigating referrals alleging the abuse or neglect of children, establishing and developing both a protective plan and a safety plan, arranging for and supervising temporary out-of-home care placements, providing outreach services, providing testimony in court when required and maintaining client case records as required.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related field. Certification or eligibility for certification as a social worker by the state of Wisconsin is preferred. Should also possess a minimum of two years of professional work experience in child welfare, preferably child protective services, or a master’s degree in social work or a closely related field in lieu of experience. A valid driver’s license is required.
