Clinical Counselor – Latinx Specialist

University Counseling Services (UCS) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) serves a diverse student population and seeks a clinical counselor who specializes in working with the Latinx population for direct clinical care.  Our clinic provides outpatient mental health services to undergraduate and graduate students at UWM.  The Latinx specialist would join a multidisciplinary and dynamic team of health and mental health care professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and counselors as well as medical staff who are devoted to exceptional clinical care provided within a collaborative environment.  You will be working in University Counseling Services unit of the Norris Health Center as a No Pref or Sr Counselor on the campus of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee which has over 26,000 graduate and undergraduate students.   The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee provides an affordable, world-class education and is known as one of the top research universities, as well as one of the most diverse campuses in the country.  Located on Milwaukee’s residential east side, campus is just blocks from beautiful Lake Michigan and home to 11 of UWM’s 15 schools and colleges.

The Latinx specialist features opportunities to provide mental health outreach, provide training and supervision, and serve a diverse student population from a social justice lens.  We are seeking skilled clinicians with an interest in taking a leadership role in outreach to our Spanish-speaking population at UWM.  This position would work closely with the Roberto Hernandez Center to support the mental health needs of our diverse Latinx student community.

Most care provided at the center is free or low cost to the student and not billed to insurance. The Norris Health Center currently operates from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  The position is salaried, which is negotiable based on qualification and experience.  The position is 12-month, full or part-time, but can be negotiated to 9 or 10-month appointments.
