Under the supervision of the Director of Legal Services, the Outreach and Client Services Specialist serves as the liaison between domestic violence and sexual assault programs, community organizations, culturally-specific communities, clients, programs and RISE Staff and End Abuse Staff Attorneys in order to ensure a victim-centered, trauma-informed approach to the provision of legal services. The Outreach and Client Services Specialist performs a broad range of duties including training and supervision of non-attorney interns, volunteers and legal assistants, case management, outreach, client intake and meetings, and drafting legal paperwork. The Outreach and Client Services Specialist works directly with survivors, attorneys, judges and court personnel, law students, interns, community organizations, and domestic violence and sexual assault agencies. This is a confidential position requiring a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and sensitivity. This is an exempt, full-time position.
- Manage assigned projects and research legal issues, including assisting the coordination of legal technical assistance to community partners and development of legal resources
- Participate in the recruitment, training and supervision of non-attorney interns, volunteers, and legal assistants
- Provide high-level case management, including:
- a. Perform screening for legal issues, answer inquiries and make referrals when appropriate,
- b. Decisions on acceptance or denial of representation,
- c. Decisions on pro bono versus fee-for-services, and
- d. Billing and accounting.
- Draft legal documents for review by attorneys, and correspondence to courts, clients, attorneys and other legal agencies and legal documents
- a. Preparation and review of immigration applications, and
- b. Preparation and review of Motions, Affidavits and Orders.
- Demonstrate professional proficiency in Spanish and English
- Translate legal documents, forms and correspondence from English to Spanish and Spanish to English and review translations from others for accuracy.
- Greet clients and guests (in person and over the phone or via video conference) and assist with and/or conduct client interviews and meetings, including interpreting during meetings, conducting meetings in Spanish, reviewing and signing retainers, collecting payment, and completing and reviewing legal documents with clients
- Organize and participate and help to develop outreach and training activities to domestic violence and sexual assault agencies, community organizations and culturally-specific organizations and communities
- Update and provide administrative support for routine listserv maintenance, knowledge and support for case management or database systems, maintain calendars for the RISE Office and Legal TA, develop outreach content for social media platforms and/or listservs.
· Must be able to speak English and Spanish (professional proficiency) in person and over the phone
· Must read and write English and Spanish, and translate English to Spanish and Spanish to English accurately (professional proficiency)
· Highly organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize, and enjoys a fast-paced environment

· Experience organizing Outreach activities and training
· Ability to weigh circumstances of individual clients and exercise judgment in the best interest of the clients and the team

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook, Office 365 and SharePoint
· This position requires access to a vehicle and proof of car insurance.

The Outreach and Client Specialist is working toward social legal justice for immigrant and refugee survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. It is important that the Outreach and Client Specialist is self-motivated and enjoys building relationships, both within the organization and externally, (relator); collecting and organizing a database of resources for survivors (input); setting and meeting goals (achiever); is a problem-solver who can identify the cause of issues that arise and work toward agreement and cooperation (harmony); and can effectively listen to clients and explain complex legal issues in a way that makes sense to and holds the client’s attention (communication).

This is a permanent full-time position. The salary range for this position is $41,500 to $45,000 annually commensurate with experience.
