Social Services Worker

WisCARES is a veterinary clinic that provides medical care for pets of people experiencing poverty, homelessness, and housing insecurity. While pets are receiving care, we also provide social services for the pets’ owners.

This summer job will involve interviewing clients, learning about their needs, referring them to local services, and engaging in more depth with clients who have greater needs. You’ll develop your interviewing and assessment skills, and increase your knowledge of Dane County’s social services, especially those designed to serve people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. We are specifically looking for UW social work students who can work Tuesday and/or Friday from 9am-4-pm.

WisCARES has a fun working environment, and we’re deeply committed to our work and the people and pets we serve. Lots of UW students, casual dress, and free parking. We’re a few miles south of campus at the intersection of Fish Hatchery and the beltline, on the Metro line.

Qualifications: Must be a student in UW’s BSW or MSW program.

Pay Rate: $11.00 hr
