Social Worker

Women In Transition is hiring for a full-time Social Worker. Women In Transition is a residential social services program in Madison that serves adult women with severe and persistent mental illness in a group home (Community Based Residential Facility), transitional living apartments and Satellite program.

Primary responsibilities include: case management, counseling, in house programming, and related duties. Typical duties include medication management, daily documentation; monthly case notes and required CBRF paperwork, working with residents on cleaning, cooking, budgeting; coordinating for resident care with outside providers.

Experience/Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of mental illnesses and psychosocial rehabilitation principles. Knowledgeable of community resources and how to access these resources for persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Knowledge of social work principles; interviewing skills; ability to provide goal directed counseling; knowledge of group work process and effective communication skills. Ability to maximize each resident’s potential for stability and independent living and to utilize supervision as necessary. Basic IT skills desired. Ideal candidate would have experience or an interest in mental health; ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes social workers, house managers and care providers outside the agency. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to ambulate in 3 story building and lift 20 pounds. Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Bachelors degree in human services/social work. State certified or in the process of certification. Certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Similar certifications may be considered. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree for lower starting salary. Background check required.
