Clinical Research Specialist

Position Purpose

The Clinical Research Specialist is a new position created to support the implementation of a new NIH-funded project, as well as other clinical trials, conducted in partnership with the Department of Medical Services. The Clinical Research Specialist will work closely with the physician Principal Investigators, research staff, other departments, and other external partners to implement research in accordance with the study protocol.   The Clinical Research Specialist will support clinical studies inclusive of facilitating recruitment, enrollment of subjects, and participant engagement, and communicating activities within the ART-CHESS mobile health application including moderating the online discussion forum and responding to individual messages sent through the A-CHESS system.

This position will office in our Milwaukee, WI location and include travel to Madison and other Wisconsin locations for research-related training and work.  Within 14 days of hire, the candidate must obtain HIPAA and CITI certification by completing the electronic training.

Essential Functions 

  • Attend regular research team and study meetings to maintain communication with internal staff and external collaborators.
  • Develop close familiarity with Vivent Health programs involved in research activity and with research protocols and provide technical assistance to Vivent Health staff whose roles intersect with the research aims.
  • Collaborate with clinical and social services teams to identify eligible study participants.
  • Recruit, consent, and enroll study participants.
  • Provide technical assistance to study participants and troubleshoot technical complications.
  • Facilitate survey data collection with study participants and report progress to Research Supervisor and collaborating teams.
  • Input data into the electronic data collection tool, following appropriate data storage and input processes. Ensure effective data collection with appropriate privacy and confidentiality protections.
  • Assist Research Supervisor with preparing, maintaining, and updating regulatory binders for review by internal or external monitoring/auditing groups, available to auditors and monitors, as needed.
  • Regularly report to Research Supervisor through biweekly personal management interview (PMI).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or other related field or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year experience working on a team conducting field-based research with some prior experience and training in research methods
  • Experience working in case management or harm reduction program
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community or willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Adheres to all agency policies including, but not limited to, Employee Handbook, Confidentiality, Healthcare Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other policies.
  • Good Clinical Practice Certification
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and injections
  • Working knowledge of Spanish language (bilingual) is a plus.
