This is a full-time research position in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh working with Dr. Elizabeth McGuier. Dr. McGuier’s lab aims to improve mental health outcomes for children who experience maltreatment through better implementation of evidence-based practices and expansion of mental health services into non-traditional settings. Our research programs have a team-focused, collegial atmosphere where people enjoy working together and supporting each other’s efforts.
The Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of the research process. The position involves contact with study participants, development of web-based surveys, administration of qualitative interviews, assisting with management of quantitative and qualitative data, and involvement in quality control procedures and general clinical research assistance. Opportunities to contribute to conference presentations and academic articles are possible. This position requires the individual to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and staff and professionals working in Children’s Advocacy Centers. The Research Associate may provide day-to-day supervision of student research assistants and other staff.
Most tasks will be conducted remotely (e.g., videoconference, phone/text) and will rely upon different technologies (e.g., Zoom, MS TEAMS). Some flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends, is required to meet the needs of participants. This position may be fully remote. Willingness and ability to travel to study sites in rural Pennsylvania is preferred.
The ideal candidates will have prior human subjects research experience, strong organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children who experience maltreatment.
