The Human Justice-Involved Families Program Coordinator is an integral part of the UW-Madison Division of Extension and works alongside the people of Wisconsin to improve lives and communities. This position is part of the Division of Extension Human Development and Relationships Institute. This position within the Human Development and Relationships Institute (HDRI) provides administrative coordination of statewide and local Justice-Involved initiatives. Coordination will involve a range of tasks to include support of The Literacy Link, which connects children with parents, in justice-involved families, through reading and other literacy-enriching experiences and Reentry Ready: Focus in Finances, programming aimed to support individuals through their reentry journey upon release from jail or prison. Coordinator duties will include support for project promotion, documentation, data collection, and funding activities. In addition, this will involve contacting facilities and justice partners; drafting and layout of Justice-Involved family-focused authored educational materials and county-based resources; website editing; and assisting with editing resources (videos, county guides) intended for justice impacted audiences.
The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and able to work with the needs of a justice-involved audience. Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Justice-Involved Families State Specialist who will provide oversight and direction to the position’s daily work. The HDR Institute Director will be the supervisor of record and work with the Justice-Involved Families State Specialist to complete time approvals and performance reviews. This position supports the implementation of statewide projects including providing technical support for remote programming; enhancing child-friendly visiting spaces with language-rich resources; communication with caregivers; distributing/mailing materials; and monitoring and maintaining program resources/inventory.
