Deferred Prosecution Case Manager

The District Attorney’s Office, Deferred Prosecution Unit, in Madison, Wisconsin, is recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Deferred Prosecution Case Manager position. Under general direction in the District Attorney’s Deferred Prosecution Unit, this classification provides direct services to offenders participating in deferred prosecution. Deferred Prosecution Case Managers promote self-determination, community belonging, valued social roles, and opportunities for contribution and choice while seeking to ensure health and community safety.

Duties: Handle misdemeanor and felony caseloads, including sensitive crimes such as domestic violence, elder and child abuse, and sexual assault. Provide intake, screening and assessment of offenders referred to Deferred Prosecution to determine program eligibility; develop appropriate contracts and case plans. Work closely with community agencies, treatment personnel, and sensitive crime staff within the District Attorney’s Office. Assist victims in obtaining restitution. Notify individuals of any significant developments in case status and final disposition. Assist in the coordination and facilitation of offender classes. Maintain excellent and diligent paperless documentation of services provided. Conduct assessment and placement interviews for offenders required to complete community service hours. Monitor offenders’ progress toward meeting their community service obligations including evaluation of supervision from community service sites and documentation of completed community service hours. Maintain relationships with community service sites and resources. Prepare monthly statistical monitoring reports. Assist in educating the public of the restorative and balance approach to the criminal justice system. Oversee students, interns and/or volunteers assigned to the community service program. Facilitate Restorative Justice Circle for offenders, victims, and peacekeepers. Maintain liaison relationship with Community Restorative Court. Conduct professional and community training. Perform other duties as assigned.
