March is Social Work Month

NASW-WI South Central Branch, the UW Madison School of Social Work, and the NASW-WI Clinical Network will be hosting a workshop and reception in celebration of social work month on March 13, 2013.  Two well-known practitioners will present on this year’s theme, Weaving Threads of Resilience and Advocacy: The Power of Social Work. 


Rena Kornblum, internationally known for work in violence prevention, will keynote the afternoon workshop, “Violence Prevention Through Movement.”  The workshop will cost $20 for NASW members, $25 for non-members, and $10 for students.  2 CEHs/.2 CEUs will be awarded.


The free evening reception will feature Darald Hanusa, an expert in domestic violence, with “Go Ahead, Make My Day! Reaping the Consequences of a Violent Mentality: Newtown, Social Work and Beyond.”  NASW-WI will present the South Central Branch Distinguished Social Worker and Public Service Awards, and the School of Social Work will present the School of Social Work Achievement Award.
