Phi Alpha Honor Society – Sigma Delta Chapter
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
In the fall, Phi Alpha members vote on a social issue or issues to pursue for the academic year. Members combine academic research, volunteer work, and discussion to gain a comprehensive understanding of the selected social issue(s). Meetings occur once per month for the purpose of planning events and engaging in discussions related to relevant social work topics. Each member will receive a certificate for Phi Alpha membership.
An undergraduate student is eligible to be invited for membership after achieving the following local chapter requirements.
- Declared Social Work as a Major.
- Achieved Senior status.
- Achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
