Mackenzie Otterson
(She/Her/Hers)
Title: Graduate Coordinator and Office Administrator for the Part-Time MSW Program
How long in your current position? How long at the school?
I started working in my position and at the school back in March of this year, so this is my seventh month working here.
What are the main reasons students, faculty, or staff would contact you for assistance?
If prospective students have any issues or questions about their Part-Time MSW application, they can reach out to me for assistance. I am also here to help faculty with their course evaluations, and I can assist them with getting materials for their Saturday classes.
What’s one effective (or ineffective) strategy you’ve used to work remotely during Covid?
What helps me with working remotely is taking mini-breaks during the day to boost my energy. I also try to take my lunch break outside to get some fresh air. I have learned the hard way that drinking coffee in the afternoon is not as effective as I initially think it is. 🙁
What’s a recent book, movie, tv show, podcast, or album (or other) you would recommend and why?
The books Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and The Round House by Louise Erdrich are some of my most recent faves.
Hobbies/other interests:
Since lockdown began, I’ve started baking, doing puzzles, biking, watercolor painting, and reading a lot more than I ever have. When things get back to normal again (whenever that may be), I look forward to traveling and going out to restaurants to try new food.
