Alumna Jean Quam, PhD ’81, Named Social Work Pioneer

headshot of Jean QuamThe National Association of Social Workers has named Professor Jean Quam a Social Work Pioneer. The honor is awarded “to social workers who have contributed to the evolution and enrichment of the profession, and whose…unique dedication, commitment, and determination have improved social and human conditions.”A faculty member at the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota since 1980, Jean served as the Director of the School for 16 years and was later appointed Dean of the College of Education and Human Development where she served for years.Quam has also served in leadership roles for several prominent social work organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR), the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE), and the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work (NADD).
