Robert (Bob) Mohelnitzky, MSSW ’70 Receives Wisconsin Alumni Association’a Tucson, AZ Alumni of the Year Award

Bob Mohelnitzky standing with this alumni award next to a podiumTucson, AZ has a robust UW-Madison Alumni Chapter. Many area alums attended this year’s Founder’s Day Event at which Bob Mohelnitzky was honored for his contributions in Madison, WI and Tucson, AZ.

Bob was the Executive Director of the Dane County Mental Health Center (now Journey Mental Health) for 22 years in the 1970s – early 1990s. He later became the Executive Director of Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, which provides food and support to more than 100 food banks and agencies.

After retiring and moving to Tucson 15 years ago, Bob served as a Director and Board Chair on the Board of Directors of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona which provides emergency food assistance and free meals by partnering with 400 community organizations in five counties in southern Arizona. He also served on the board of the Pasadera Behavioral Health Clinic.

Bob also served his country, spending 30 years in the Army Reserves including a tour of duty during Operation Desert Storm assisting combat casualties. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
