Lucy (she/her) is a PhD student at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work and a research assistant at the Collaborative for Reproductive Equity (CORE). Her research interests center on the intersection of abortion policy, queer healthcare, and grassroots movement building. Specifically, she is interested in using participatory methods to examine how LGBTQ+ abortion experiences inform efforts to provide affirmative reproductive healthcare in highly stigmatized and restrictive environments. She also studies the role of community support and grassroots organizing in expanding abortion access, with particular attention to self-managed abortion and abortion later in pregnancy.
Prior to coming to UW Madison, Lucy worked at a later abortion clinic, where she supported patients navigating the web of social, legal, and financial barriers to abortion care. Lucy holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Community Action & Social Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
