Youngchae(she/her) is a PhD student in the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a project assistant at the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP). Her research interests center on inequality in work and family, with a particular focus on two broad areas. One of her research interests is labor market inequality, particularly precarious work and its impact on people’s lives and wellbeing. Second, she is interested in understanding persistent gender inequalities in the labor market and how they evolve over time. Across these areas, she seeks to understand how work and family dynamics interact to shape and reproduce inequalities. Building on these contexts, Youngchae is particularly interested in the role of work-family policies in mitigating inequalities and how their effects vary across social groups. Ultimately, she seeks to understand how social policies can promote more gender-equitable outcomes in both work and family life.
