Steve has been a leader in higher education for many years. He retired in December 2018 after serving for the past 10 years as President of Texas A&M University in Kingsville, TX. The University has more than 8,000 students, over 50% of whom are Hispanic. Prior to that he served as provost and vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and was a faculty member in their social work department. Before joining academia, Steve had a 20-year career in the military, including serving at the chief of Air Force Family Research at the Pentagon.
