Anna Walther

Anna (she/her/hers) is a PhD candidate in the SRSSW. Her research spans multiple projects that explore how work characteristics and public policies impact the economic security of low-income families. She received a Russell Sage Foundation dissertation award and Institute for Research on Poverty dissertation fellowship for her project Essays on the Social Safety Net, Economic Insecurity, and Inequality during the Transition to Parenthood which examines how the safety net shapes low-income women’s economic security during the perinatal period. She is interested in applied research methods and research applications of critical theoretical frameworks. She enjoys teaching students about the field of social work, social work macro-practice, social policy, and research methods.
