Gerald and Karen Bougneit Scholarship

Karen Bougneit established the Gerald and Karen Bougneit Scholarship to support full-time graduate students in the School of Social Work.

Gerald Bougneit graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1959 and MSSW in 1969 from UW-Milwaukee. Karen Johnson Bougneit graduated from UW-Madison in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts and MSSW in 1969 from UW-Milwaukee. Both Gerald and Karen received stipends from the State of Wisconsin to pursue graduate education. This financial support was essential to their success and thus, they have a desire to support other graduate students.

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time graduate student obtaining a Master of Social Work who is focusing on children, youth, and families. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is renewable based on continued need and acceptable academic performance.
