Mary Ann (Mutchler) Nelson graduated with a BA from the UW-Madison School of Social Work in 1970. She worked as a social worker first in Milwaukee and later at the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Passionate about working with aging adults, Mary Ann was a friend and volunteer to older adults. She continued to help them after moving to Plano, Illinois, with her son and her husband, who also graduated from UW-Madison.
David Nelson established this fund to honor Mary Ann’s time at the university and her commitment to serving the elderly. To honor her dedicated years of service, this fund will be used to support the next generation of students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Social Work.
