The Topitzes family has longstanding ties to the UW-Madison and its School of Social Work. Nicholas J. Topitzes earned his undergraduate degree in History in 1966, Judith E. Topitzes earned her BA in Social Work in 1963 and her master of science in social work (MSSW) in 1965, and their nephew James W. Topitzes earned his MSSW in 1999 and his PhD in Social Welfare in 2006. The donors are committed to making graduate studies in the UW-Madison School of Social Work affordable for students from Wisconsin.
