A new grant received by Dr. Aaron Brower on behalf of the University of Wisconsin Extended (UWEX) Campus seeks to create better ways to generate customized education for statewide and regional businesses and business sectors, and help businesses identify employees whose careers would benefit from specific UWEX programming. The pilot program will provide a focused approach to addressing skills gaps within particular workforces using data analytics and employer relationships to determine skill needs.

The $250,000 project is funded by the Walmart Corporation and includes a partnership between UW System, Microsoft, and LinkedIn to improve online education offerings for adult learners to meet employer needs. “This partnership forges a new path for how we can better deliver education in the right place at the right time,” said UW System Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Anny Morrobel-Sosa.

Dr. Brower is a Professor of Social Work, the University of Wisconsin System Senior Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Executive Director for UW Extended Campus.

UW Extended Campus is the online and continuing/professional education arm of the University of Wisconsin System, working in partnership with all 26 UW System campuses.
