Tucson, AZ Alums Receive “Badger of the Year” Awards

Each year the Tucson, AZ Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association holds an alumni event honoring the university’s “Founders Day.”  This year, more than 100 people attended the event at which Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work alums Craig LeCroy, PhD ’83 and Kerry Milligan, MSSW ’83 were named the Tucson area “Badgers of the Year.”

Craig and Kerry met during their time at the school, married, and soon moved to Tucson, AZ where they have lived for more than 30 years. In 1991, drawing on Kerry’s work as a clinical social worker and Craig’s knowledge of program evaluation, they shared a vision to create an evaluation team that would address a pressing need — to assist organizations to use rigorous evaluation information and processes to assess their effectiveness, build their evaluation capacity, and improve their services. They founded LeCroy & Milligan Associates based in Tucson. They, and their 20-member multidisciplinary team of social scientists, program developers, and statisticians assist a broad spectrum of non-profit and government agencies, universities and private businesses and foundations who are addressing a wide range of child welfare, social service, health and mental health ,and adult and juvenile justice needs. Since their founding, they have completed more than 400 projects.

In addition to his work with LeCroy & Milligan Associates, Craig is a named professor of social work at Arizona State University. He is the author of 15 books and over 100 articles focusing his work on the areas of home visitation services, social competence in adolescence, and evidenced-based practice in social work. His honors include being elected Fellow by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, and Fellow by the American Psychological Association. He served for many years on our Board of Visitors.
