In January 2025, alum Jamie Kuhn was named Director of Public Affairs on the Government Solutions Team at Foley & Lardner, a Wisconsin based law firm. Commenting on Jamie’s hiring, Paul Wrycha, managing partner of Foley’s Madison office, explains, “Jamie’s proven leadership in government affairs and extensive relationships at the state and local level will make her an invaluable resource for clients in Wisconsin and nationwide as they address complex political and legislative issues.”

Prior to joining the firm, Jamie served as the Interim County Executive for Dane County, the second most populated county in the state of Wisconsin, overseeing more than 2,800 employees and managing an annual budget of over $1 billion. Previously, she served as the State Medicaid Director at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, where she led a team of over 1,200 employees and managed a budget of $14 billion. During her tenure, Kuhn provided leadership on improving service delivery for Medicaid recipients, maternal and youth health, and innovation in mental and behavioral health systems.

While a social worker serving in a major law firm is unique, Jamie explains, “Throughout my career, my focus has always been on serving the people of Wisconsin, whether at the state or local level. My training as a social worker to meet people where they are at, understand individuals’ experiences shape their perspective, and connecting people to resources and solutions will continue to serve me well as I now support many Wisconsin businesses and organizations working with government from the private sector.”
