Over 40 Years Later, Jeff Hamm, MSW ’20 Completed His Degree

As retirement approached, Jeff wanted to pursue work with older adults. He applied and was admitted to the MSW program at age 65, specializing in gerontology and healthcare while taking the core courses required for the LCSW. Having worked much of his life with younger adults, Jeff focused his education on working with older adults and their families. His two field placements, at the UW Health Geriatrics Clinic and the VA Hospital’s aging program, prepared him well for his post-graduate career.

After working for almost three years professionally with clients and families impacted by dementia, Jeff now has a private mental health practice providing a range of counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples and families. Several of Jeff’s clients are dealing with cognitive changes in loved ones or in themselves. He sees clients in his office, at their home, or in facilities where they live.
