Jael Currie MSW ’11 Featured on Black Power List 2020

Every year, Madison365 publishes its Black Power list to “highlight the beauty of the diversity across our state.”

“I want kids here in Wisconsin to see role models of people who are succeeding, to know that it’s possible for African Americans to achieve great things here,” said Henry Sanders, Publisher and CEO of Madison365.

This year, Jael Currie, MSW ’11 is featured on the list. Currie is the Housing Director at YWCA Madison and candidate for Madison Common Council’s 16th District. Currie is also the acting Vice President of the Dane County’s Homeless Services Consortium Board of Directors. 

PhD Student Sakara Wages Featured in Madison365

PhD student Sakara Wages is featured in a Madison365 story about her work at UW-Platteville as one of the first two Black alumni to return in teaching positions to the university in 10 years. Sakara is a 4th-year student the PhD program in social welfare. Her interests include anti-racist pedagogy, Black feminist theory, social work education, and Black family welfare.
